Personality: Kaoru is a trickster, liking to play jokes and tease people. Put him together with his brother Hikaru and they will cause quite a ruckus. The twins want attention, to be recognized as themselves, individuals. Still, Kaoru is much calmer and better controlled than Hikaru, but he's still very reliant on his twin. He can be quite selfish, especially against people he does not care about, but to the few people Kaoru does care about, he likes them quite fiercely. He is very sensitive to such people's feelings, and will often put them ahead of himself. Abilities/Weapons: Kaoru is smart, near the top of his class at a prestigious high school. He is also cunning and creative, coming up with all sorts interesting ideas. He plans elaborate pranks, as well as ways to help those he cares about. Weaknesses: Though he can get along with people, Kaoru has a difficult time considering them friends. But when he does, he can end up becoming a bit too self-sacrificing for them (not that he usually lets them know that). |

In their third year of middle school, the twins were approached by Suou Tamaki to join him in creating a Host Club. They refused, but eventually said they would join on the condition he was able to tell them apart within a certain time limit. Tamaki failed the 'who is Hikaru' game just as everyone did, but he kept trying, causing the twins to dub him the 'idiot of lords.' In the end, he managed to convince the twins to join the Host Club, even though he couldn't tell them apart. In the host club, Kaoru and Hikaru play up an incestuous relationship for customers, Kaoru taking the submissive, sweet role. He often acts clumsy so Hikaru can 'make it better,' with many illusions to 'the previous night,' much to the customer's delight. When Fujioka Haruhi joins the Host Club, she becomes the first person who can tell them apart, and with great ease, and they feel that becoming her friend is their first real step out of 'their' world. |
